Global Warming: Is it too late?
Many scientists and climate experts have told us about the impending dangers of global warming. But these warnings were already forecasted way back in the 60’s and 70’s.
In our age, we are visibly feeling the adverse effects of the phenomenon we were told long before its consequences come knocking at the door. The gradual rise in the temperature, abnormal changes in the weather patterns, stronger storms, less rainfall, and many others have shown us that global warming is already staring us face to face. The question is: Can we make it turn away?
If we did heed to the warnings when the experts first told us about global warming, maybe we could have done something to reverse it effects. But we did not. Not enough, anyway. And to answer the question posed earlier, the answer is a big NO. There is nothing we can do to stop global warming. The best we can do right now is reduced its effects. But even if we stabilize or even lessen the amount of greenhouse gasses we produce, the sad reality is that it will take several lifetimes to get global warming under control.
If you have watched AL Gore’s documentary on the phenomenon, then you are familiar with the possible outcomes. Sea levels will rise dramatically and in the process, sink low-rise island nations and low-lying coastlines. Receding glaciers and the total melting of the polar caps will contribute to storms and hurricanes of biblical proportions. But the worst of them all is the possibility of Earth’s going back to the Ice Age.
Ice Age. Now, that does not seem to fit with all the heat we are experiencing, but Al Gore’s theory, backed with years of research and other influential scientists, is very much plausible. Ice Age. Now, that is something to worry about.
But it is just a theory. But then, we do not want to be on the wrong end of the bargain now, do we? It is too late to alter what has been set. If Ice Age is really coming, better start training for life survival in the ice.
