Revver’s Video Download and Ads – Possibly YouTube’s Top Competitor
YouTube, a very well-known video sharing site, has become the most common portal for video content given its wide selection of submissions from users. We also know that there are other competitors but Revver happens to stand out. Here’s a sample screenshot:
Revver has the same navigation interface as YouTube but take note of the added options. You can either view it in Flash or QuickPlayer format. Aside from that, what I liked best is that videos can be downloaded directly from the site; I think this is how video sharing should work. It does not limit anyone with streaming media.
Another difference is its platform in video submissions. Creators can have a profit share of the ads displayed in the video. I’m not sure if this platform guarantees quality content but creators would display their best videos if they want to have more views and earn more as well.
There are a lot of Internet celebrities who became famous in YouTube but with Revver, they’re not just earning fame.
The only downside is Revver seems to heavily rely on videos displayed from other websites. It would be better if its owners promote the website as a destination for video content.
