On Voltron
The Voltron movie is currently in the works. That gives anyone who still has the hangover for the 1980s robots era a reason to celebrate. The Voltron movie is about the 5 mechanical lions that are stashed away secretly and eventually discovered by 5 individuals who survived an alien invasion. How the story goes is still under production and revision.
But for those who were born later and never saw the classic cartoon series, there are actually 3 Voltrons – the 5 lion Voltron, the Vehicle Voltron, and the 3 Robot Voltron.
The 5 Lion Voltron
The 5 Lion Voltron is the most popular version of all Voltrons. These 5 mechanical lions are piloted by 5 individuals and each have their own line of specialized weapons. The Black Lion is the leader of the pride. When they form Voltron, Green Lion and Blue Lion form the feet and legs, Red Lion and Blue Lion form the arms and torso. And Black Lion forms the Head.
The Vehicle Voltron
Set in an alternate dimension, the Vehicle Voltron is comprised of 15 strike vehicles divided into three groups – The Air Strike Force (aircrafts), the All Terrain Team (land vehicles), and the Aqua Force (water vessels). When forming the Vehicle Voltron, the All Terrain Team forms the feet and legs, Aqua Force forms the arms and torso, and the Air Strike Force forms the Head.
The 3-Robot Voltron
Perhaps the not so popular version of Voltron, the 3-Robot Voltron is formed when 3 robots of different colors and specialties fuse their frames together.
The Voltron movie is set to be released in 2009.
