My Cable Favorites

I always make sure that I am home before 10 in the evening. Whether I’m coming from a meeting or theater rehearsals, I’m always home by 9 pm. I have to be. Otherwise, I’ll miss my favorite cable shows.

On Mondays, I tune in to AXN by 9 pm because I love Chuck. It’s a funny take on the spy genre. I love the fact that Chuck, an ordinary guy and techie geek, can make or break a CIA and FBI operation because of the vital information stored in his mind.

Then at 10 pm, I lie down and relax and get ready for my favorite doctor, House. House is witty, funny, intelligent, and stubborn but endearing. He’s the best doctor I know and everytime I watch him do his thing on t.v., I’d wish he were real so he can be my doctor!

On Tuesday nights, at 10, I’m still tuned in to AXN for C.S.I. New York. I’m an avid fan of all three C.S.I.’s. I love the mystery of each case. I love making guesses about the real murderer. I love solving the crimes. I love getting into each character’s mind, especially that of Mac Taylor’s (Gary Sinise).

Wednesday nights are reserved for C.S.I. Miami. C.S.I. Vegas just wrapped up its latest season, so Gil Grissom has been replaced by Horatio Caine. Miami’s appeal is magnetic. The cases are different, ranging from the most unusual to the severely brutal. I love watching and listening to Caine’s trademark antics, like the way he wears his shades and how he describes each crime/crime scene.

On Thursdays, at 10 pm, I get into the mind of Charlie, the math genius, while he helps his brother and the FBI solve various cases. Numbers has given me a fresher perspective on math and numbers. It’s interesting to know how math can help find murderers and terrorists. And it’s even more interesting to watch how Charlie is able to make non-math geniuses like himself understand the logic of numbers in a brutal crime scene.

My weekend nights are normally reserve for local shows like Pinoy Dream Academy (or PBB) and Maalaala Mo Kaya. Yes, I watch these shows, too! I’m not the type who shuns Pinoy-made shows and movies. I don’t think they’re baduy. Baduy is just a term. What’s more important is how a show or movie touches you, and what lessons you get from it. And yes, I do watch teleseryes…But my cable favorites are on top of my list. I just can’t have a complete week without watching any of them!

A great part of my DVD collection is made up of my favorite cable shows. Aside from those I’ve already mentioned, I also have Ghost Whisperer, Supernatural, Heroes, Smallville, Criminal Minds, Medium, and Cold Case.

I just love watching these shows. Something in them makes me feel complete. I don’t know what it is, but I like the feeling! In fact, I’m loving it!
