An Adventure to Treasure
One sacred attraction lying in the midst of the mountains of Balubal, Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City is the shrine of the Our Lady of Guadalupe. Not too many people know about this spot considering its location. But going there is in itself a memorable experience. It only takes an hour to reach the shrine and all you need do is walk, cross a winding river not only once but nine times, and pause for the Stations of the Cross. You will really feel God’s presence along the way because of the beauty of nature and the forest’s breeze. After traversing the last river, you will then climb a stairway leading to the chapel. Here transpires the most important part of the journey – the chance to participate in the novena prayers in honor of the Our Lady or attend the Eucharistic celebration together with the rest of the devotees. The long travel really pays off — it makes you appreciate His blessings and wonderful creations more.
It’s been a year since my last visit to the place. I hope one of these days, I could bring with me my colleagues and walk with them in this religious adventure.
