Slovenian PG To Unburden Steve Nash

Slovenian PGA lot of talk has been generated recently regarding Phoenix Suns General Manager Steve Kerr’s decision to go abroad and spend a wad of cash just to get Slovenian point guard Goran Dragic to play for the Suns next season. 6’4” Dragic is being by groomed by the Suns as Steve Nash’s backup, which is a good move since the elite point guard and 2-time NBA MVP is pushing 35.

Speculations have it that Kerr has completely gone overboard with the acquisition of Dragic from the Spanish basketball league where he had to buy out Dragic from his existing contract with a Spanish basketball franchise. Kerr, who is known to make sudden moves and bizarre deals, did raise some eyebrows when he hired Dragic.

Dragic’s level of basketball is still completely untested against the top point guards of the NBA, one of which he will have the honor of mentoring him. Although clips from his practice saw Dragic a good midrange shooter with a high vertical limit, he is still young both in age and experience. Skeptics predict that too much pressure on DFragic will cause the boy to falter. A couple of seasons more in the European basketball circuit would have prepared him for NBA.

However, despite loud oppositions, Kerr feels optimistic about the trade and said that the Suns were lucky to have acquired Dragic first, since other teams were also keen on getting him to their roster.

The season is still a few months away. Dragic still have time to do some rounds of practice before his first NBA deut. Come that day, he better be as good as they say he is.
